06.20.08 --- clunky name, clunky personality

Some people who read this know my full first name. Those people can imagine how it is regularly butchered, misspelled, and, when seen on a form, an email, or otherwise written down, reacted to as if it were some kind of mistake to be corrected. I would estimate that a full 5% of work correspondence I get, via email or snail mail, renames me "Samantha."

It's not like I mind terribly. My name is unusual outside its ethnic context (although almost ubiquitous within it - I get a great deal of Greek spam) and Samantha is a nice name, one I would necessarily mind having. But the mistake is strangely consistent.

Anyway.

I was supposed to go to an artist's place tonight here in Crooklyn with some Philly kids. But it's already late, and The Boy is already out, and I don't want to go by myself, and blah blah blah. So I think I will have to write a nice apology tomorrow, and accept that people will think I am flaky, because I wrote them not 3 hours ago and said that I was coming.

Do you ever feel like a social disaster? I do, like every single second.
